The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.

That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

TEMPEST is an action-book that is totally different than any YA book I've ever read! Unique storyline, wonderful characters, and a twist on time makes this novel whole and great!

TEMPEST was such a fast-paced book, it's ridiculous. Right from the first page, the action begins and never stops. There are so many twists and turns in this novel, and add in some scenes where the tension is biting-nails worthy, TEMPEST is easily one of the quickest reads I've ever read.

Jackson and Holly's love seemed true and pure. I could tell from the beginning that they both cared for each other deeply, and when the tragic thing happened to Holly in the beginning, I knew that there would be so much character development. To put it shortly, I was right. All of the characters in this novel grow in some shape or form, whether it be for better or for worse. And I admired Julie Cross for doing that.

I had one tiny problem with TEMPEST though; we get a lot of time travel scenes in this book, and finally, they got really repetitive. I mean, some of them were awesome and definitely necessary, but after so many time travel scenes, I started to grow a little tired of them. But in the end, it didn't affect my feelings towards this epic book .

And when I say epic, I do mean epic. There were so many scenes in TEMPEST where I was literally on the edge of my seat, turning pages and hoping to tension would let it up (it barely ever did). If you are looking for action and romance, it can all be found in this novel. Because, simply, the author is awesome enough to include such AWESOME scenes. Especially the ENDING! Oh my gosh, that ENDING! Props to Julie Cross for doing an amazing job on this book. I need the sequel, VORTEX, so bad!

TEMPEST is definitely a great novel! Time travel, romance, flashbacks, restoring the past, and one of the most tense scenes EVER, TEMPEST has it all!

  1. I listened to this book on audio. I know some people were confused with all the time traveling scenes, but they didn't really bother me.
