Waiting on Wednesday (5): The Diviners by Libba Bray

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine!

So I'm having surgery right now, but I thought I would go ahead and make a Waiting on Wednesday post. This week, I'm waiting on . . .

The Diviners by Libba Bray
Expected U.S. Publication Date: September 18, 2012

Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-toot-ly thrilled. New York is the city of speakeasies, shopping, and movie palaces! Soon enough, Evie is running with glamorous Ziegfield girls and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is Evie has to live with her Uncle Will, curator of The Museum of American Folklore, Superstition, and the Occult--also known as "The Museum of the Creepy Crawlies."
When a rash of occult-based murders comes to light, Evie and her uncle are right in the thick of the investigation. And through it all, Evie has a secret: a mysterious power that could help catch the killer--if he doesn't catch her first.

So excited for this one! I usually don't like historical books, but I really want this one. The Roaring '20's + murder mystery + New York City equals a happy reader in me.

And I am so happy that it's 608 pages! I am really into long books nowadays, and this book is a beast.

What are you waiting on this week? Leave links in the comments below!

  1. I love Libba Bray's writing and like you, I can't wait for this one! Her historical fiction has been wonderful in the past, so I'm sure this will be just as remarkable! Wonderful pick! :D
